Oscar de la Renta SS15

"Pretty, polished & with a dash of modern edge"

It is safe to say that I was absolutely fascinated by Oscar de la Renta's SS15 collection because it was so girly and romantic in my opinion. It was fresh, modern and youthful. The beautiful bright pastel colours, oversized prints and floral patterns are definitely my cup of tea. After the long and cold winter months it is always delightful to see the Spring/Summer collections with their light, flowing fabrics.

The simple but edgy make-up and hair definitely complimented this collection. Luminous, glowing skin, berry-stained lips and bold winged eyeliner set the mood at this show in New York.

Head make-up artist Gucci Westman was inspired by the graphic prints in the collection, so she mixed two Hourglass eyeliners to create the perfect shape and colour intensity on the eyes:

The Calligraphy Liquid Eye Liner by Hourglass to keep the look inky, followed by the 1.5 mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner on top for a "youthful, cool, fresh look" she says.

Westman kept the model's skin radiant by using the Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint and the Ambient Lighting palette.
"Unlike cream highlighters, which are difficult to control, the palette is incredibly easy to use. It's all about gorgeous, effortless beauty."- Gucci Westman
The luminous skin and simple lips balanced the bold liner on the eyes.

Let's see what products Gucci Westman used on the models:

Skin:
She prepped the skin with Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer followed by Hourglass Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint for a luminous complexion.
She concealed any dark circles and imperfections with Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer.

Cheeks:
She created a seamless, soft-focus glow with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. Lightly contoured the bone structure with Radiant Light, a sun-kissed golden beige. Then applied Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat, a vibrant poppy shade, to the apples of the cheek. She finished up with Incandescent Light, a pearlescent shade.

Eyes:
Gucci swept Hourglass Calligraphy Liquid Eyeliner along the upper lash line, flicking the liner up and out. She followed with Hourglass 1.5 mm Mechanical Gel Eyeliner to enhance the black tone. She then applied two-three coats of Hourglass Film Noir Mascara on the top lashes.

Brows:
Perfect arches were in focus. She created it with Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil.

Lips:
Gucci prepped the lips with Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil. She then applied Hourglass Opaque Rouge Lipstick in Empress, a deep aubergine shade, and used her fingers to blend the colour. Gucci also added a touch of Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil for a subtle sheen.

Gucci Westman: " Oscar de la Renta- the look was ultra feminine, but the type of feminine where the woman is on top of her game, not sitting around waiting for a man." I think this statement by Gucci is so powerful and also very true.

Kattia Solano hair stylist let the collection do all the talking by creating a very simple but very slick look on the models with hair pulled back in a tight pony tail.

Unfortunately I could not find much information about this hair style but if I had to create a similar look I would probably start with blow drying than straightening the models'  hair.
I would than use the following products to create texture:
  • Salt spray- to give the hair a little bit of a texture for a better grip
  • A touch of wax to slick back the hair at the top of the head
  • Hair spray to set everything and tame any flyaway hairs
  • Shine spray
