MFW- Dolce & Gabbana AW14 collection

Inspired by 'The Secret Garden'

I think I'm safe to say that the italian designer duo amazed everybody by turning nature into a secret garden inspired collection with flared dresses and raised waists.
The duo crafted woodland animals, padlocks and keys; and floral patterns onto jackets, skirts, overcoats and dresses mixing them with bright embroidery, sequins and jewels.

The designers wanted the models to look like woodland princesses. Pat McGrath make-up artist responded with luminous skin and perfectly lined cat-eyes. Pat evened out the models' skin tones with  D&G The Foundation Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation but instead of using shimmery highlighters she applied a paler shade to the high points of the face to bring out the models' bone structure. Next Pat lightly defined the models' eyebrows for a feathered look. On the eyes she used light shades over the eyelids up to the brows, than applied a taupe shade into the crease to create a subtle shadow. She than applied black eyeliner to the upper and lower lash lines with a cat-eye flick to add definition.
By applying a subtle blush to the apples of the cheek, Pat kept the rest of the face simple. Pat kept the lips similarly minimalist.

"We're pressing a little bit of D&G The Classic Cream Lipstick in Honey onto the centre of the lips and adding a tiny bit of gloss, just for light and moisture."-Pat McGrath

This season's braided updos perfectly complemented the fairy-tale inspired Little Red-Riding Hood capes.

"It's very feminine; it's very desirable; it's a soft approach to women's beauty"- said hair stylist Guido.

For the romantic braided buns, he first prepped the hair  with a thickening spray and blow-dried it with a round brush. He then applied dry shampoo to the roots for texture, created a middle part at the front and backcombed it at the crown for height. Then he gathered the hair at the back of the head into a loose braid and wrapped it into a loose bun. He messed it up a little by loosening strands at the front for a softer effect.
